Corsa Tropica by Gilbert David

The company "Transformation Gilbert David" converted between 1985 and 1991 about 250 3-door Corsas.

The conversion consisted of cutting the roof at the B-pillars, welding in a reinforcement at the B-pillars and the roof and installing a rollover bar in the back tail (from the B- to the C-pillars). Over these a plastic cover was fastened, at which the side parts could be rolled up. The cover could also be diminished completely, so that the Corsa resembled a Pickup. The Tropica could be ordered either as a 5-seater (with rear seat) or Van (without rear seat).

The tail gate was cut off underneath the window and fastened with hinges to the right side, so that it could be opened laterally. Furthermore the spare wheel was fastened outside on the tail gate. All changes were equipped also with a tinted tiltable sun roof.

2 equipments were available: JUNIOR and FULL

The difference consisted of the fact that with the FULL equipment all body parts were painted in car colour and the interior equipment were covered with Skaie. With the Junior this was available as an option.

All standard Corsa equipments and engines were available.
